About NAB Preserving Culture Building Community A community built by Nigerians, for Nigerians, in the city we now call home. Vision Statement To be a united, vibrant, and thriving Nigerian community that celebrates its cultural heritage, empowers its members, fosters meaningful connections, and contributes positively to the social, cultural, and economic development of Brooks and the wider Canadian society. Mission Statement The Nigerian Association of Brooks exists to promote Nigerian culture, strengthen social connections, support the welfare and integration of its members, empower youth through educational and recreational initiatives, foster peace and unity, and build strategic partnerships that enhance the well-being and success of the Nigerian community. Our Direction Strategic Objectives Cultural Promotion and Preservation To preserve, celebrate, and promote the diverse cultures, traditions, values, and heritage of Nigeria through participation in and organization of multicultural events, cultural festivals, educational programs, and community activities. Social Engagement and Community Building To foster friendship, networking, and a sense of belonging among members by organizing social events, family gatherings, community celebrations, and activities that encourage meaningful relationships and mutual support. Member Welfare and Advocacy To promote the welfare and well-being of members by: Providing a forum for engagement and interaction with government agencies and relevant institutions in Canada. Supporting members with information, resources, and referrals that facilitate successful integration and community participation. Advocating for issues affecting the Nigerian community where appropriate. Representation and Liaison To serve as a link between members and official Nigerian representatives in Canada and Nigeria, facilitating communication, collaboration, and access to relevant information and opportunities. Partnerships and Global Collaboration To establish and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with Nigerian associations, multicultural organizations, and other social and cultural groups locally, nationally, and internationally. Education and Youth Development To promote educational excellence, leadership development, mentorship, and youth engagement through programs, workshops, career guidance, and initiatives that support personal and professional growth. Recreation and Community Wellness To encourage participation in recreational, sporting, wellness, and family-oriented activities that promote healthy lifestyles, community involvement, and social cohesion. Peace, Unity, and Inclusion To foster peace, harmony, respect, and unity among members while embracing diversity and promoting an inclusive environment where all individuals feel valued and supported. Community Service and Civic Engagement To encourage active participation in community service, volunteerism, and civic initiatives that contribute to the growth, development, and well-being of Brooks and the surrounding communities.
